A while back I started brain storming up ideas for a Fantasy universe. Even sketched out a few species. Well I'm finally getting around to drawing them. So here we have our first one. Gonna try and do a lil Lore like codex entry for the species and then specifics on the individuals.
Entain or "Ents" as they are called by many of the realm of Avalore. They are living moving plants born of the Thecaita trees. Ancient trees said to be as old as the realm itself. Trees that no blade can chop and no fire can burn. From these ancient trees Ents are born. All Ents hold a strong bond to nature and influence over it. They are among the most magically gifted peoples in all of Avalore. Ents come in two types mostly. Saplings and Tinder. Saplings appear to others as but children and remain eternally so. They are gifted with powerful magic unrivaled by any. They are often quite and inquisitive as well as playful. It is not uncommon to find groups of them roaming the forest playing and spreading growth where they go. They will even aide lost travelers. But despite their magic's raw power they lack the ability to finely harness it and perform complex task with it. Physically they are also little stronger than the children they appear to be. Tinder appear as adults with appearance varying more so. Though most are tall and slender. They are swift and five times as strong as an Elf able to take on even the hardiest in combat. They possess a strong skill in magic able to attack with the greatest of accuracy and perform greatly complex task. If Saplings are the healers of the forest than Tinder are certainly it's defenders. It is most common to find one traveling with the other fore mutual benefit. Tinder typically become as protective of their Sapling companions as any parent might and will defend them as valiantly as they would the forest itself. So it is no surprise how a Sapling will go to any length to please it's Tinder and help it. Both Saplings and Tinder are born with an object from their tree. For Saplings it is typically a Ceptor of some sort to aide their magic and for Tinder it is typically a bladed weapon of some sort. Both items will have the same properties as the trees they were born of. Indestructible.
This day found Timberbane the tall Tinder walking a path along the forest with his Sapling companion Hazeroot. The two had been companions for many seasons and Timberbane cared deeply for his charge. The two had fought to protect the forest many a time. Timber smiled a bit as Haze scampered a bit farther down the path pointing at some butterflies gathering at the forest entrance. Haze knew the forest well but never failed to be excited by the littlest of things. His disposition often rubbed off on Timber cheering the bigger Ent up. Timber was more than happy to pick up the pace with his young friend. Haze had stopped down the path to wait for him. The moons coming out and the stars just beginning to come out for the evening he wanted them within the forest to be safe. With any luck they'd have company at the trader's camp that was set up in a small clearing not far from there. Timber just hoped there wouldn't be any Orc among them. Haze tended to be very skiddish around them. Timber often would ask why. His only answer would be haze looking away or to snuggle up hiding his face. Perhaps one day Timber would find out.
