So, more updates on Rocket the feral rescue. He's come out of his cage a few times now (only when the dogs are out) and I managed to hold him. It was while we were checking to make sure he's neutered (thankfully he is) at first I had him wrapped in a towel in case he freaked out. He was very tense and scared at first, then after a few minutes he started to calm...to the point that he pulled his claws in and I moved the towel away without any fear of scratches. He perked his ears up and was actually quite relaxed on my lap for about ten minutes. I still feel he needs to be in a home with cats only, the dogs scare him too much but he seems fine with other cats. At any rate, we're making some progress with him. I plan to keep getting him out like this a little every day.

Yeah, he's such a gorgeous cat, apparently he was dumped about two years ago & left to fend for himself, and over the course of those two years turned pretty feral. I just don't understand how someone could do that to such a beautiful cat, or to any animal for that matter
Handsome guy there. It is very sad that owners just dump their animals, I have seen some and owned some very beautiful kitties.
Some times it takes a very long time for an animal to trust again. My one, IBK-Itty Bitty Kitty, it has taken 5 years. Of course now she has taken over my lap.

Yeah, a friend of mine I was talking to last weekend said she rescued a feral that was found in the aftermath of a hurricane and it took him about two years to come around. They're well worth it, but this guy in particular needs a house free of canines, they freak him out too bad. So, the search continues, in the meantime he's my little feral foster kitty
