I like it! Although, I'd put some more rot on the neck/face area, or make sure to have it have a different texture of color. Thats the biggest area and with such awesome rot behind it, it'd look too healthy in the front. Ooh, and maybe add some dark circles under the eye, and a bit of something dripping from the nose/mouth. I'd also move the position of the bit to the back of the mouth, so you can show some icky mouth parts, sickly tongue, or gross slimey junk. But really, this looks waaayy cooler than the other one.

and i was thinking i'd show some decay around the edge of the mouth around the bit... and im thinking markings similar to http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y2.....ist/photo2.jpg a dirty off-white with black markings, and the injuries will be shades of green and blue and purple...

If you use the second sketch, watch your perspective. He nailed James pretty hard about it, and I'd hate for him to do the same to you. I do like that though, and I think you should use it.

yeah i'm looking for some better poses to use to show off everything i want... i'm thinking if i do a pose that is OBVIOUSLY twisted then it wont be so big a problem... since lizards are by nature flexible... i'll probably wait to resubmit the official mount drawing later and for now focus on the environment, and put my new mount design in the environment...
