About a month ago, on our drive from KY to AZ, our broke down in the desert along a stretch of I-10 in Texas, and we ended up having to get towed to a tiny little town called Van Horn, where we were stuck for 3 days getting our wheel barren replaced.
Here my two dogs, Marlin and Charlotte sit patiently outside the mechanic shop, waiting for our car to be fixed so we can GTFO and keep going.

It threw us off schedule but was actually a lot of fun! We had a train hopper friend with us who has been through all kinds of crazy situations, and was able to keep my husband and I from completely panicking. In addition we got to eat some of the BEST Mexican food we've ever had :D
Oh, wheel bearing. Yeah, Subarus are infamous for grinding through those. I have a squeak coming from the front left wheel of my WRX, and it looks like I might have the same issue.
Another big issue is rust throughout the suspension, but you'll probably be safe from that since you're in the South.

The Subaru has been REALLY good to us through out most of the time we've owned it, but unfortunately because the last people who owned it lived in Maine and thus it's been around salt water, the entire underside of it is just pure rust, which made it a MASSIVE pain in the ass for the mechanic to work on.
