Moar game music Reason covers! This one was requested by an old college friend who wanted it as his ringtone. It was originally going to be a MIDI file, but the program I used to make them with wouldn't install, so I just fired up Reason and tried to make it sound arcade-like. Some gentle overdrive effects helped give the sounds a bit of that retro game crunchiness.

I guess I was being kinda vague with that. ;P

I don't like the phased guitar part, it doesn't go too well with the rest of the instruments.
I did like the slide you made at 1:09, it made it sound like it wasn't just a replica of the original (which would be better if the rest of the song had that kind of feel to an extent instead of trying to make it sound as close as possible to the original).

But the phased guitar is playing Guile's Theme, and Guile's Theme goes with everything! *Ducks brick*
Seriously, though, yeah, I wondered if the wet phaser would be too much... but I'd not used the patch before and was experimenting with it, and it seemed a bit more interesting than just copying and pasting the part exactly as it was in the first loop.
And the reason I tried to keep the track so close to the original was because that was what the guy I made it for asked for. It was originally just going to be a direct copy with an arcadey, sample-heavy sound to it, but by the time I got to doing the melodies I'd started using a bit of artistic license.
