Hawaii's only native mammal (non-aquatic) is a tiny bat. I think it's kind of neat Hawaii managed to get *any* native mammals. Also I haven't drawn a bat in a really long time, so I thought I should give it a shot. Always torn between the more 'realistic' structure of the hand-wing and the arty swoopy anime wing. Style won out over function this time, I guess? ^_^; Much like the coconut bra itself, like those things serve any purpose. Boobcaps. Looks like she needs some help with those, though...
Also am playing around with inking my lines on this one, instead of pencils like normal. Going to try some color experiments on it, see how that works out. And hey, it's something everyone can view because it's not porn! (...cricket chirpings)

From what I understand, Hawaii is one of the most geographically isolated island chains in the world, so anything that made it there without the help of man had to be lucky enough to blow in/wash up from outside (instead of being swept out to any of the thousands of miles of ocean surrounding it) and go from there. So, plenty of birds...just not much outside that, I guess?
