This night was a really special night when I took this shot... It was the start of this two-day annual festival called Mizuakari. For the most part it's a light festival, dedicated to hope and prosperity of the community. A fairly recent event that started in 2004, each year volunteers carve lanterns out of bamboo. These are lit up at night and are quite a supernatural spectacle.

This photo in particular is of one of the many river lamps. I am really impressed with this shot, the blurriness of the smaller lamps bobbing in the river near Kumamoto castle. Blurred by the 15-second shutter speed while the tall lanterns sit still...
