Did this piece because I get allot of requests for turtles and I had a drum that needed some love.... Not sure how well it translates as a print but that will be seen...

The symbolism is based on the Plains Indian Medicine Wheel which is why each turtle is out lined in a corresponding color for that direction/ element....

East/ Air: Red eared turtle for its light and fae like energy and the sweet water ponds and lily pads it makes it home.

South/ Fire: Alligator Snapping turtle for it's fiery nature and the muddy marshy areas it loves.

West/ Water: Hawkbill Sea turtle for the watery depths

North/ Earth: Desert Tortoise for the ancient wisdom held in the rocks and the Earth.

Painted in Acrylic on a 14 inch octagon stretched deer skin drum.
