Here is one of the biggest projects I've done since taking this position.
I'm going to be building 50 of these genetic sample driers from laser cut and saw cut Dark Blue Cellcast TP acrylic. I expect each box from start to finish will take nearly 2 hours, but I'll make jigs and stages to try and reduce the monotony. The client came in and plunked down a $5,000 check, so that I'd put it in queue, the remaining 6,000 is due before I'll start getting the laser work started.
I have a set of magnifying eyeglasses and Lint-Free Nylon inspection gloves ordered to make the job easier.

Dood!
Laser cutting. Want!
Is this what you do for a living?
I've got my eyes set on a router-based CNC milling machine but laser cutting would be five kinds of awesome.
You don't happen to have a spare kilowatt carbon dioxide laser lying around, do you?
Seriously, though, how steep is the learning curve for this sort of work?

I build any number of things out of 'plastics'. You'll find other shots of my projects in my gallery.
The laser work will be handled by another person in a different city.
As for the learning curve of laser setup, I'm not familiar enough with it to tell you.
I do have a personal CNC mill made for woodworking which does cause me fits trying to get it to do what I want :D
