Hahaha, yes. I rode the train from Davis and it took 54 hours... Freaking worth every penny though! This is currently my record in terms of distance traveled by land based public transportation. I left my house on foot and took 2 buses, more walking, one train, more walking, the L, more walking and to the con! No cars and planes involved!

This would probably remain the record for a while until I decide to do London - Hong Kong by train haha. We'll see.

More Specifically London-Brussels-Köln-Warsaw-Moscow-Beijing-Hong Kong. =D

Really though, I bet it's an amazing feeling to travel so far in such an old-fashioned method

I took a train from Boston to San Diego once ... Lake Shore Limited right from my downtown, to Chicago, Southwest Chief, to Los Angeles, Pacific SurfLiner, to San Diego. That was 10 years ago, and it was a fantastic experience.

The company just sent me on a biz trip to Dallas, and I convinced them to let me take the train down. Lake Shore Limited, to Chicago, Texas Eagle, to Dallas. :) It was a biz trip, but the ride was very enjoyable.

Just the other day, I got lost after falling asleep on the bus. So I got on a train. As it turns out, getting on a random train does NOT solve the problem of being lost.
