I fixed up a render PC for myself using spare parts from my last PC
upgrade and some new bits so that I can have either 2 things rendering
at the same time (very handy for the 3D images), or so I can render
and work at the same time.
I decided to call it Thunderbird 1.
And of course I wanted to have a really sweet Thunderbird 1 background
on it. The only problem? No images that were 1080p.
This meant I had to BUILD MY OWN. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!
I found a site with some pretty good orthographic views of TB-1 that he
made which gave me a great start, and I watched multiple episodes of the
show to hammer down some of the details. Of course the problem with
Thunderbirds is they had multiple versions of each ship, and each version
has some slightly different details.
As for the scene itself, I wanted something that I could render fast, but
looked cool - Backdrop: EARTH. As TB-1 could only operate in atmosphere,
I would need to approximate the look of being at the edge of space.
And yes, I know about the scientific inaccuracies. I don't care.
I wanted it to look cool. :D

Website that I found the orthos at: http://thunderbirds.sfdaydreams.com/

Thunderbird one is as air tight as any airplane.
And being a rocket propelled vehicle he can easily hit the edge of space and come back.
After all, if a simple balloon can reach the edge of space with a camera attached to it (whIch I looked at reference for this image), then he can easilly.
Never mind the many different current technology jets that can also hit the edge of space, and return safely. No dead pilots.
