So, anybody who's been watching me for a while, (or knows me IRL), knows what a big fan I am of Utena.
For ages, I've had this idea for an Utena shirt that plays on the old Disney song from Snow White.
To me, the idea is nothing short of hysterical and fans of Utena should get the joke.
If you're not a fan of Utena, here's the joke:
The one with the pink hair is the one named Utena. As a child, she was saved from drowning by a very dashing figure. Like any little girl, she read fairy tales. Yet after that day, she decided that being the Princess wasn't for her. She never wanted to be rescued again, she wanted to be the one doing the rescuing. She vowed to become The Prince of her fairy tales, and... well, watch the show/movie if you want to know more.
This design took me 4 hours to perfect, 1 hour to transfer to a shirt via iron-on, and 1 hour to run it through the wash the way the instructions said and ruin the whole thing.
I have no idea where I went wrong, so I included the original design in this submission.
Enjoy, I certainly do. ;}

I'm here to tell you that your friend blew a big fat cloud of smoke right up your bum.
The Prince who saved her is anything but a douche; his BROTHER on the other hand, is a douche so massive that Summer's Eve would contract him to be their Thanksgiving Day Balloon. In the show.
In the movie... the Prince who saved her is still not a douche. Arrogant, but not a douche. The guy CALLING himself the Prince, same story with Brother in the show.
And besides, the story is really about the two you see here, everything else just kind of frames that. Gets to be a really twisted frame at times and there are a few things that just make you want to shut down your computer and just stare at a wall for a while until it sinks in... but I truly enjoyed it. And still do.

In my opinion, the movie is much better and Anthy especially.
The one in the show just... grates on me. I get the whole "thing" about being a non-entity and thus everyone's personal whipping boy, but it still just gets to me. When I meet someone like that in real life, I just can't leave them alone.
The one in the movie still has that air of the "non-entity" about her yet manages to be an actual person. She ends up coming off as a little schizo because said "person" changes drastically and often, but it's something.
I would also say that the manga of the movie is one that I would recommend. It basically tells the story of the movie, but there are some changes and a little twist at the end which was not in the movie that I personally enjoyed immensely.
I will say that in either the show or the movie, I like Utena better than Anthy, hands down. ;}

Frankly, I just never "got" Touga. At times, he seems like he suffers from Alzheimer's or something; his actions make no sense with what he SAYS he wants to happen.
I will say he's less of a jerk in the movie. Still arrogant, but more in a playful way.
Also has a little back-story exposition that may surprise you.
