I work for the site http://worldofumbria.net
It's an adoptable pixel critter site (in a magic/steampunk world)
I've been spriting for almost 10 years (4 of them spent at Dragcave.net )

It took me a few tries to get a good Basilisk (the first set was rejected)
I'm rather happy at the curvy tropic bright snake version we ended up with.. even if this took me ages and SOOO much frustration to perfect. (lots of small fixes and dumb mistakes on my part.. twas evil)
"Young basilisks are rather mischievous creatures, although not quite up to par with their adult forms in the scare department. When sleeping or otherwise lazing around, they have a tendency to curl up into a coil or ball so they don't lose much body heat. The famous basilisk stare is undeveloped in their young, so all it succeeds at is being exceptionally creepy. In addition to their creepy stare, they have a habit of staking out in cupboards, underneath floorboards or in any other place that would potentially be able to scare a human.
Once they reach their prime, Basilisks can easily take up the better part of a room with their girth. Most owners choose to keep them in indoor corrals, full of dark crannies and other places that they love to be in. Their deadly stare, capable of causing complete petrification only curable with specific remedies, is thankfully controllable. If they are kept in a good mood, the basilisk will simply see no reason to immobilize anything that isn't an active threat. Therefore, in order to safely take care of a basilisk, one must be willing and able to accomodate its needs." (not written by me, site text)
