I have a couple of youngsters living next door to me. They're both great kids and I enjoy babysitting for them. Shortly after How To Train Your Dragon came out in cinemas, a friend of mine in the US mailed over a huge Toothless pillow plush Walmart exclusive.
Of course, once it arrived and was on my bed for the world to see, the boys decided to covet it at every waking moment of the day. To save my Toothless plush from annihilation, I worked on making two smaller Toothless minions for them, so that they could have their own Toothless plushies.
This is one of them.
I wish I had taken more photos, but I can probably borrow them for a weekend photoshoot. Though, they're over a year old now, and very well loved...
I made the Toothless plushies for a couple of reasons. The first of which, I wanted to give the boys a gift that couldn't be bought anywhere. The second... no plushie-creation of mine has ever actually been field-tested and stood up to the playfulness and might of an enthusiastic eight year old. Out of curiousity, I wanted to see if I could make a piece of plush art that could be played with. That's what plushies are for, ultimately. To be thrown around, cuddled and loved by a child (or a child at heart).
The result? I can. Both Toothless plush still fly happily. =3
Creation Date: June ~ August 2010
