I really love the juxtaposition of old Japan and new Japan in this picture.

Pictured: Asakusa Shrine / "Shrine of the Three Gods" (浅草神社 - "Asakusajinja" / 三社様 "Sanjasama)

and 東京スカイツリー (Tokyo Sky Tree), now the tallest tower in the world.

This was taken the morning of the Touhoku Earthquake Disaster.

it's a fantastic place to visit and to live. i'd imagine it could invoke some major culture shock, although i think severe culture shock is more common for the japanese visiting other places (look up Paris Syndrome).

Tallest building in Japan. Tallest in the world is in Dubai. Burj Khalifa.
