this has been around for a wile, the marks of it on YouTube and Google have been going on for a wile, as well as many partitions that have been available for the last 2-3 months. are you people that disconnected that it takes FA to start showing it's disapproval of the bill for people to take note? btw Wikipedia and Google are also protesting today.
this is why we're having trouble in the country, no one pays attention to what the government is doing anymore! no wonder things are getting messed up.
people need to get involved! AND NOT CUZ FA SAID TO!
though it is true, sign the partitions and shoot down SOPA and PIPA... but also be more aware!

It is quite amusing. I believe though that some people (I for one) are posting pictures/journals/icons today not just because FA made note of SOPA/PIPA, but because protests become more effective when a large collective of people does something all at once rather than everyone doing something small over the course of 3 months. If people posted pictures/journals/icons over the past 3 months they would go under the radar because of how little there would be. The same reason why many sites have chosen 1 day to go black rather then each site going black on a different day.
many people didn't even know this was going on. no one pays attention. my point it it took these sights doing this for many people out there to finally look into it. I garentee there are still people ignoring this, or not standing up and such. it's ridiculous....
and you know damb well there are several people using this as an excuse to gain attention during this too.

I am not denying that many people didn't know about SOPA/PIPA or the blackout, I agree with you on that. That is why I said "some people". Many people are clueless to what the government is doing. I would bet most people at my college wouldn't be able to name the republican candidates if I walked up to them and asked, and on topic most wouldn't even know exactly what SOPA or PIPA are. They would just say "Oh, it is bad and does stuff to the internet". *facepalm*
Pretty much the reason I'm not so concerned is that I'll build up a server here in my homeland for an own website with no copyrighted content at all : /
BUT I HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY WITHIN THE UNITED STATES... and I have signed a couple of petitions already, one on google and the other on a site of activists I can't remember how was called right now.

well it's not that, here in the US internet providers can be TOLD to BANNN sights fully... even sites from outside the US. so not only will possible businesses that are being run outside the US possible loose the US market because some design is SIMILAR to a copyrighted marital, but anything is up to question for us here in the US
once again, people don't understand the ramifications of what this bill is and what it will do!
we are too quickly moving to a corprate militant state.
and you can do something, tell your American friends to stand up and pressure your government to tell ours to not do this!

About time someone points out the problem: The masses who are ignorant to so much, and place their trust in it. Personally, if it didn't affect me, I'd encourage SOPA and PIPA, just to make sure that the idiots suffered from their ignorance the most.
As my old man said: Stupidity should be painful.

Hey I'm not a sheep I'm a rabbit and the only reason why I'm going with the crowd is because at first I thought I was just alone with what I thought, and I was misunderstanding it because I really don't understand government talk and politics X3 but once I saw that I was not alone, and I had a better understanding of it and that there was something I could at least try to protest I took the action SO THANK YOU O3O!
I waited to say it was funny cuz it didn't become funny till I saw the rush of stupid SOPA related art hit the site, and art that is NOT CORRECTLY PORTRAYING SOPA!
I am againsed the bill, and have been. but seriously people just dunn get it =/
because if your confused then you don't know what your doing, if you don't understand what their doing you can't honestly say againsed it.
your following people with no real opinion of your own, no real idea of what you are againsed. and I am sorry I find that wrong. that is no difrent then the people whom vote for a candidate cuz their "registered" in that same party, not cuz they believe in the candidate, but because they are in the party.
get educated, and say what you believe, don't just follow the crowds.

I have known about it for a few months. Instead of doing things on FA to show i am against it, i contacted my congressman and representatives, reminding them this is an election year and their vote on thsi bill will influence my vote come november. Most anyone thats been on tech sites for the last 2 or 3 months has heard of SOPA/PIPA
Silly, isn't it?
We live in the Information Age. He who controls information, controls everything.
Yet people rely on others (ie. media corporations) to provide the information to them. But by doing so they've just given away the little bit of control they had over their own lives and the world around them.

Sad that such rumors cause such havoc. SOPA is dead by order of the Speaker of The House and President of the United States http://www.dailytech.com/Ding+Dong+.....ticle23791.htm It died Saturday
Its gone for good. Election year no one going to do something this stupid trust me. Its political suicide especially if Obama signs it into law. I can see people in Washington laughing at the onslaught of sites like FA (Sadly they into it now) going crazy over it. Even if something similar passes we have no worries it only affects our access to non U.S. sites. FA is safe it is based here in United States
Been studying it as it progresses in class (Business Law Classes). Its a Presidential election year. He would not dare would tick off a lot of voters especially those who can vote like me. Would not let it worry you too much. My only advise. Bigger things ot worry about in this world than one of the hundreds of laws that Congress passes weekly.
This is all politics XD. I still cannot beleive people going overboard. The Attorney general already has this power under the PAtriot Act but its nearly impossible to keep up with the internet.

I think you're wrong. A lot of people knew, and signed petitions and such, but just because there hasn't been huge waves of pictures and such, doesn't mean shit. It seems to me you're targeting all the people who helped, but didn't jump around about it. That's kinda lame. Post stuff constructively, not to just be a huge dick-hipster-combo.
lol, no, too many people still don't fully understand what that bill is about, and are jumping on band wagons. they truly don't. and I'm aloud to state my opinion, and if it seems dickish oh well. hipsterish? eh... not really. I found out about it in November so I was late to the party myself really. not 5 days before the bill moves late but still late.
and this is constructive. all these images on "censorship" ONLY sprung up after everythin went black out.
before this I didn't even see one image about sopa. so to me this is all just bandwagon jargon.
my point is people don't pay attention to the government, often till it is ither too late or on the wire. it took google and FA and stuff to go down for people to look. if you think otherwise, well you have more hope for Americans then I do.
