This is a neat little outfit I put together today, this is only showing the WIP as it were, and I messed up the hood when I tried to make it, and I wound up running out of hot glue and thread, but it is showing the detachability of it (that's what the buttons on the shoulder are for, and I'll be attaching additional buttons to the back to fasten the hood)

I can tell you from experience that the attaching a hood to the neck and shoulders with buttons didn't work for my Hanna's Pajamas sleeper. There is too much strain on the union there that either the buttons would not stay in the button hole, or popped all together. I'm not sure if latch and hook closures or snaps might work better, but buttons didn't work for me.
