This slow air was written by Iain MacLachlan for the BBC thriller film "The Dark Island" in 1963.
The tune had been played on the Scottish music circuit before being formally copyrighted and had earlier titles including Dr. MacKay's Farewell to Creagorry and Dr. McInnes's farewell to South Uist.
It's a very relaxing song, which I've arranged with guitar, piano, and Irish bouzouki, with the fiddle playing melody and harmony.

This one is quite a soothing song. Peering though your galleries I don't see any outside links anywhere.. I would love to ask if you have pictures of your violin. =) (Yeah fa is a bit finicky on the rules about posting the tools you use and your workspaces.. They don't mind artists [thouse who draw, even though we all are artists.] Compared to the musicians.) So if you have any pics, elsewhere, I would love to share. How do you record the violin piece? Do you use mics or is it an electric violin. Which I should of asked was it acoustic or electric and what brand :P forgive me I just have taken a bit of interest in your work.
Thanks! For recording now, I pretty much use my acoustic violin that I've had since high school. I do own a Yamaha electric violin, but for the songs I do, it doesn't really work well since the tone always seems a bit too harsh and tinny. I can't remember where I ordered my violin from, but it's made by Ernst Teller. For recording, I use a Shure SM94 instrument microphone and just recently bought a microphone boom stand so I can have the microphone up above me, pointing down at the violin instead of just out in front.
awesome.. I use a Rossetti acoustic/electic violin. Pluging it in directly never really gave me a good sound quality either. So I use a Sterling audio ST55 Condenser mic with a boom also :P http://s1089.photobucket.com/user/RedReynart/media/IMG_4888.jpg.html?sort=3&o=9 I got that as a gift when I graduated from highschool with honors. ^^ I enjoy it very much.
