Here's a brief clip from the FC2012 parade, showing the new tailfan in action:

Seems to splay and fold ok, once I'm able to put it on! I had to make a special retainer that holds the tailfeathers closed until I can get into the wings, then releases them... At this point, the costume wears me more than I wear it. ;>
Two control cables under my vest allow a spring in the tailfan to splay the feathers when I raise my wingtips from my side. That seems to be about how a hawk does it, when it's about to take off.

Yup, that was the lovely hawk I saw gliding past my table in the Furry Market during the Fursuit Parade. Awesome that I happened to be in a good position last Con. Your costume turned out wonderfully!
