Alright, here is the run down.
I have a surplus solid stock for my UZI and for a few reasons (one being I am getting a much nicer non-surplus one, the second being they are cheap and plentiful as hell) I want to re-finish it.
While thinking about this, I got the idea of possibly adding some additional personal touches to it. Then I got the idea of adding a logo of some sort to the large flat area at the back, and well my mind kinda went from there.
Basically this left me with a few ideas and I wanted to see what people thought.
Here are some critical items:
1. I will most likely be burning the design into the stock. However, if engraving with a rotary tool will yield better results, I will consider that.
2. The largest workable area for a square design is about 3" tall by 2.5" wide. Going forward along the side will give a long rectangle about 4" long and 1.5" tall.
3. The stock pictured is representative.
4. The stock will be stripped prior to any burning or engraving. As such I will be able to choose any finish I want. I have no clue what looks good with burned or engraved wood, but keep in mind the firearm is a flat black.
5. I have no clue what kind of wood this is. I am working on finding that out.
This is what a stripped stock looks like.
This is a stock with minimal finishing

This is just a concept for something I plan to do.
The stock I am using is a military surplus stock, so I have not made it at all (at least in the sense of taking a blank of wood and fashioning a stock).
As for an AK-47 stock: There is no reason you couldn't do something like this on one. They offer more uninterrupted space, but they have one "problem" that could make them more difficult. The stock of an AK is contoured. The UZI's stock is flat on the sides. That could increase difficulty.

Partial Logo is the one I can't take any credit for as Vector Arms was doing that. :P
