I've re-read it a couple more times now, and I like this very much. You grab the reader quickly and pull them into identifying with Rose early. I realize this isn't a full story yet, but I definitely want to see more because you've piqued my curiosity. I have also spotted some problems, but I'll note you with those, not air them in public.
