Ahem. I, did NOT CHOOSE to be gay. This man, CHOOSES to remain ignorant of any other facts than what he currently knows. If I can endure society's slings and arrows for being not just gay, not just furry, but haunted by visions of untold violence and cruelty, then he can endure a little flak for CHOOSING to downplay everyone else to better his own self image.

I'm sorry, but I don't honestly believe someone can choose to change their personality and beliefs any easier than you could choose to change your sexuality, or choose to stop liking anthromorphics.

And if you honestly believe that someone can, well.. then maybe a lot of people around here should 'choose' to become more forgiving and a little more mature.

While we're at it.. I just love how the fandom will jump on guys like that because he's an easy target, but when a well-known artist, or even someone with connections to popular artists displays pomposity that makes THAT guy look humble, everyone is willing to completely IGNORE it. Yeah, it's so cool to make fun of the little guys, but noone dares stand up to the BIG jerks.

Okay, listen, I was being nice not mentioning anything about the fact that you're using my sexuality against me in a way that's very very uncool, but to imply that it would mentally destroy this man to realize that there's more to creation than arbitrary documentation is just fucking silly. Those are not his beliefs, they're his thoughts, and he posted them publically. If he was too sensitive for any kickback- which I will remind you he is apparently not considering that YOU are having to defend him instead of doing so himself- then he should not have posted them on the internet. You KNOW that.

And I have come up against very popular artists many a time, when I was dead sure they were wrong and needed to be told so. Honestly, stop. Quit trying to villify me for making fun of somebody, these people do not need crusaders.

I've said things that were controversial, worded some things a bit less than tactfully, and then when the community turns and jumps on me for it.. well, it's a real scary feeling. Hey, it's okay, I don't hold grudges. And I normally don't involve myself in these sorts of things when they involve issues I'm divided on. I think we've all been in his shoes before, though, me included. You don't know all the facts about something, you go out, say it, and get your tail lashed for it. It's part of growing as a person, and it teaches you things, gives you character. It's not fun, no, but it is a necessary evil in the realm of personal growth- that is to say, it is impossible to expand beyond the ego, even in small doses.

So in the grand scheme of things, he'll either reconsider his thoughts, or compound his convictions. Either way, I'm fairly sure he'll walk away from this just fine, and could probably come back with a better representation to good results. Who knows? It's all up to him.

And hey, I don't blame you for your intentions. It's good to keep others in mind. Just, some battles aren't worth the fight.

Wow. This is a complicated topic. What the original post lacked in merit was more than made up for in pomposity, but remove the retarded comments from the 500-odd replies, and some interesting points are raised.

While the meme itself is funny, I do think this guy should be ignored, rather than ridiculed - Just imagine the newspaper headline:

Look. A guy goes about posting whatever he wants in a self-absorbed effort to make himself feel better and everyone else feel worse about themselves. We respond not by trying to censor him or destroy his ability to post, but critiquing him through submissions and comments. He himself said that any artist worth their salt should be able to take such criticism. As far as I'm concerned, there is no need at all to lay it on him gently.

And besides, it's stress relief for the rest of us.
