Well, not much of an explanation. Just me and my rig. Based off of an actual photo. I love this. Though I will admit.....I wish I was that skinny.

Heh, sounds like you been in one. It's hard to explain. Especially when there are many different types that work in many different ways. But the general idea is there's two types. One that you go through all lower gears till you reach a middle point. Then you flip the switch up, and you go through the upper gears.
Though the other way is you go to one slot, use the first gear. Then second gear, hit the switch up, it goes to second gear. Then when you go for third gear, put it in nutural, put the switch down, then go for third.
My tranny is a 13 speed, and it's a mixed of the two....and it still confuses me to no end.
As for the double clutching, its easy to figure out once you get used to it. But, I found myself screwing up in a car with a manual once I got used to the truck. Automatic in a car is your friend during your time away from the semi-truck.

Oh, it's not so hard. The actual job itself. As in, pick up load, head over to delivery. Things like that. The hard part is mainly putting up with the ignorant public who think I can turn/stop on a dime. The ridiculous hours of service where I pretty much work every minute of my woken moments. Sleep in the truck. Be out on the road for at least 2 weeks before I can get the requested time off....and even then, that's up in the air. And hardest part of the job is just trying to work with your dispatcher and office people who treat you like a machine. About it.
Though I could go into further detail of good/bad about it if your really curious. Though it would be easier in private mail or chat.
