This is, a Noll fish.

Its a fish that lives in the salt lakes near the edge of the southern continent on the Planet Gaeus; well known by the locals as the "Gambler Fish."
Due to Genetics, some citizens claim the fish to be the greatest tasting meat on the planet, its taste a delicate balance of salt and sweet; other citizens however will immediately vomit.

After all, not all people can taste the chemical that it's body naturally produces. It's non toxic, but it's taste is so vile that anybody who is unfortunate enough to even take a mouse's portion will retch and gag.

The chemical only reacts with water, as such never boil Noll fish. It will affect everything else that is also in the pot. The chemical as such, reacts with saliva and unfortunately has the side effect of lasting long after the fish is gone.

The chemical compound is otherwise tasteless.

Noll fish are also practically blind and come in mostly blue to purple.

The fish swims using its powerful twin tailfins, much the same as a swimmer through a pool. Due to this fact it goes very quickly in very short bursts.

Rare species of the fish exist that do not have the gene that allows them to create the proteins, and therefore they cannot produce the chemical. These fish are often very dark in colour, sometimes black, and always live at the very bottom of the lakes.
