Hey folks! Sorry to throw a wrench in the works after posting about the panel before, but at least this is a happy wrench.
astolpho took pity on me when I mentioned that perhaps opening time on opening day wasn't the best timing for a panel if I wanted any artists to be able to attend, and he finagled me a much more choice time slot! Then, while he was at it, he bequeathed his own slot to me for a second talk so he'd have time to finish prep work for the con.
So I have two talks scheduled now, and neither of them are at the previously listed time, so I hope you'll help spread the (new) word. While I was worried nobody would show up to an early-morning panel, it would be even worse if people did drag themselves there only to find that the panel's been rescheduled!
The new times are as follows:
COMPOSITION & NARRATIVE ART
Friday at 1PM in Room K of the Convention Center
This one's basically a reprise of last year's talk, with some new material added. I'll talk about how I approach a new work, how I refine my ideas, and how I build a composition around them. I'll focus on how to make interesting characters, how to arrange them in interesting scenes, and above all how to tell a story with your art.
COLOR THEORY & DIGITAL PAINTING
Friday at 6:30PM in the Guadalupe Room of the Marriott
The originally scheduled panel for this year, where I plan to cover color theory, from the underlying science to how to use that to control the mood in your piece, direct the eye through it, and more. It should be at least as much general-purpose theory as it is Photoshop trickery, so I encourage any artists to attend, even those who favor traditional media.
Artists of all types and skill levels are welcome to both! The more the merrier <3
