This is a picture of D. Dan one of the main halls or rooms at his family's manor located in the ancestral kingdom of his family and people. The kingdom is called Adleria and is there the avian race that is D. Dan's, and a number of other peoples. It is also a home to a significant population of griffins by whom where domesticated since the ancient times of the kingdom.

Adleria is one of several kingdoms, and one of the oldest, in the mythical land of Hyperboria. It has a extremely long line of kings that has been unbroken who's surname is the namesake for the kingdom. The current ruler is emperor Nicholas Adleria and is the 273rd ruler of Adleria since it's legendary founder, Ugthar Adleria.

The griffins of Adleria come in two types. One has wings whereas the other, despite being the same in every other way, has no wings to speak of. Even the kind with wings, like the wingless kind, are flightless. They are excellent at climbing, heavily protective and loyal to their owners and extremely playful.

The land is noted for its fertile river valleys that snake along with the river through steep near sheer cliff mountains, canyons, fjords and similar treacherous areas. The mountains are made of stone that is difficult to cut and erode and, such, maintain its sharp pointed tops. The coastlines have numerous protective and hidden lagoons, bays, caves with natural walls of stone and sheer cliff faces with an angle close to 90 degrees. The only areas that meet the see that is not met by such sheer cliffs and mountains are the few locations where the many rivers of the kingdom meet and collect into deltas.

The country is dotted with numerous towns and villages that are built on raised earth mounds, large rock formations and / or stone platforms smoothed and shaved for building on a level plain. A few towns make use of cliff faces, caves with large openings or any level areas on the mountains to build on.

The cities of Adleria, on the other hand, are built mostly on even higher ground. They are built on a mountain that, after years of epic transforming, is completely shaved to a level plain with the leftover stone used make any remaining angles of the mountain into a sheer 90 degree angle wall with the top making for extra land to build on. The stonework and land area made is so well made for future planing that even a city of skyscrapers can be built on these artificial plateaus.

The capital of Adleria is built on one such artificial plateau in the shape of an ellipse with a width of about 17 miles and height of about 12 miles.

As for the characters in the picture, D. Dan was strolling in one of the main halls in the manor when one of his pet griffins, Mittens, drops a ball near his feet indicating that he wants to play ball with D. Dan. Mittens is named for his love and fondness of mittens and by the fact that he loves wearing a customized pair himself on his front paws. LOL. ^\/^.
