Something that started as something more humble but decided to grow a bit in scale C:. This is my half of a trade with the very patient and lovely
hawaiianstile who made me a beautiful and extremely dangerous sharktooth pendant (and there's really no safe way of storing it, I discovered =D!). Since Keone loves to dive, I knew I wanted to depict his character under water from the start but I just never knew what I wanted to do. As always this started with a bunch of waffling about in photoshop..I got a bit carried away with this piece, but I hope you enjoy it ^_^. I am habitually slow with art trades and hence why I usually don't take them, or if I do, request that the other party finish their half after I finish mine ;D!. The fish are Teardrop Butterflyfish which can be found in the waters around Hawaii.
Also a speedpaint/warmup for this piece can be seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7186707/

I'm not exaggerating or kidding when I say that, in reality, my jaw dropped. So much of your art does that to me anyway, but still! You're incredible, I've been watching your art from various places since way back on TLKFAA in '02, and I'm so glad I've done that and got to see how much you've evolved as an artist.
You have no idea how happy it made me to get a comment from you. I admire your eye for color, composition, patterns and lighting.. I don't comment nearly enough, though I am always at a loss of words as to what I could say short of silly redundant one liners that hardly encapsulate what I feel when I see your art. Thank you for not only sharing your brilliant bold visions with the world but being such a down to earth person! And thank you again for the comment, I will spend the day feeling bubbly and content now ;}.
You're really way too kind <3 And likewise, I'm terrible at commenting -- I rarely get out of my own little corner of this site, which is a bad habit. I think the silly redundant one-liner I left here shows that even silly redundant one-liners can be nice to hear, but I do hear you that it's difficult to come up with more substantive things to say sometimes, even on pieces you really enjoy. That's probably part of what keeps me from commenting on others' work more as well.
I suppose I'll start with more friendly one-liners for artists like you whose work I enjoy, and I can build from there ^_^

This is absolutely divine, as everything else you do, of course. I am in love with the water surface reflected off both the tiger and the fish. :)
You know, there are a few artists on FA that I, when I see their name in my submissions inbox, just know have outdone themselves once again with each new submission they make. I know that, when I click the link, I will instantly be introduced to yet another look into a wonderful world of vivid colours, dreamy images and through-the-looking-glass-esque subject matters. And you, along with a select few (Kamui, aestheticmachine, ChrisGoodwin, etc) stand at the very top of this small category. Your works truly enrichen us, and I, for one, am grateful that you share this look into your own wonderful world.
This piece seems so real and faithful to our world, that the idea - an anthropomorphic tiger diving - seems hauntingly real too. It's all very "a world within a world" to me.
I'm sorry, it seems I got too caught up with myself, so I'll end it here. Amazing piece of art, and thank you for showing it to us. Keep being an inspiration. <3

i never imagined it would be so breath taking, even knowing how talented you are. i dont think i could possibly love it more, its fuckin incredible! never have i seen a more pristine looking underwater piece, every detail is so perfect, every centimeter a delight for the eyes. the expression and body language, indeed everything about the subject denotes the calm contentedness that washes over me when im in the water diving. its like visual poetry, giving life to the type of serenity diving brings, that no combination of words could so accurately convey.
lol i saw 3 watchers this morning and thought "O_o why are people watching my lame ass?" then it struck me! "of course! if a balaa creation has been submitted with my name in it that would explain this." so with great excitement i clicked the submissions section, and with jaw agape and eyes nearly watering i beheld your amazing gift.
i have to make you something else now, i simply must.

Im so glad you liked it. Im sorry I didnt add any of his gear, I just wanted it to feel free and primal <3. You needn't make me anything else..the necklace is very special and the fact you remembered me saying I would like one and actually made me one meant a lot! Can you note me your email so I can send you a badge version with your name (Keone ok? C: ). Again so happy you like it, turned out to be something very special for me to work on!
not at all, i like to give very undetailed outlines of what i want because i think its far more special if the artist makes most of the decisions, who knows their style better than them? i love that you went with what you felt as the piece progressed, it makes the piece so much more amazing. and thank you so much, i would love a badge version (Keone is right on X3). its amazing, thanks again, i may never need another wallpaper XD

I kept believing the title is "Divine" until I read it again to make sure it was Dive. I thought a lot about the title "Divine" and tried to dive into your world of imagination, fulfilling it with colours like you do. You are fascinating me and your artwork is the mirror of your soul. I love seeing you active again. This painting is wonderful and I wish you a plethora of creativity and beautiful ideas for 2012. <3

The color study and this final piece really captivate and inspire me. After working so often in chiaroscuro and limited color palettes, I think I've started to fear color. Seeing your work really makes me want to study color more intensely-- and I think I'll be doing that tonight! I am very inspired =D keep up the fabulous work!
I can't believe I didn't comment on this sooner. I feel as though I am late to the party or something perhaps.
As avid diver myself, this piece moves me in and of itself. That it is a stunning piece of artwork is no less moving and for it, this work is all the more powerful.
There is something so very alive in this piece. Beyond your exquisite colors or your wonderful brush strokes. There is a gravity to it that draws me in. I love every piece of it, the colors you captured and the atmosphere. But more than anything else I love the ripple of light, being refracted through the surface, shimmering over his back and arm. I know that exact feeling, and have always loved that when I dive in clear waters. The heat on your back from the warmth of the sun... Its perfect.
