Dogda WIP Digital Skupture

I have been working on this off and on for the last couple months in the program sculptris, which is a freeware offered on the zbrush site. This is meant to be my interpretation of Dogda the Celtic god of the hunt. He is described as a father figure, and often depicted with a club or a cauldron of plenty. i gave him antlers because he is occationally depicted with them. I only intend on doing his head though because the program is kinda hard to work with. I got Maya recently so - as I learn how to work in that I"ll prolly have better success as well as make models I can start to rig.

Sculptris started as an independent project, having nothing to do with zBrush, that got almost all it's functions before pixologic acquired the rights. it is also not dumbed down, you can indeed export and rig models with acceptable results if you know how to properly deal with it's meshes

I am not a 3D student, but a 2D and Illustration, So I am working with what I have been told from others... I am learning 3D now on my own in order to broaden my work possibilities as an animator. The knowledge of the program I found it under the website, it being portrayed by them as a beginning tool to later import into zbrush. Via what I've learned about the industry zbrush isn't used for more then modeling/ mock up because it is to detailed( though can be imported as you've mentioned) and Due to the high pixel count will often just crash especially in the gaming industry. I am not trying to argue, just saying this is what I've been taught. I will change the info about skulptris, but I still see no reason to use it for a rig when its not an industry standard from what i've learned by many of my peers.

yeah, youre right about that zBrush is very inefficient considering render time. You might wanna check out blender if you'd like a free all in one sculpting/modeling/rigging package

thank you :) I did get that downloaded few weeks ago just didn't get around to delving into it before my folks surprised me with a bunch of autodesk software ' maya, mudbox, ect' So i'll prolly just jump into that first. Was finishing up this sculpture cause I already had it started. Lol it originated with me just trying to make basic heads to look from when drawing rather then having to take photos when i needed reff XD;
