Standing proudly, Captain Broche of Camp 44 in his old admiral uniform. Broche is a cobra and in the past was one of three pivotal admirals responsible for leading the Rose Army against King Farhn. The other two being Admiral Errith and Admiral Talc.

Broche at the time was the youngest of the trio, but he had been operating under a leader of the rebel forces in Brinka for some years so his ascension to the top of the military ranking was natural.

After he had proven his worth in several battles, he and Errith had a falling out. During the exodus Broche took the troops under his command and turned about to protect the rear of the evacuating column of refugees in direct violation of Errith's orders to suffer the losses of the civilians in order to protect the portal to the new realm from attack from the Slayer who threatened to destroy the entire operation.

Broche's maneuver turned out to be successful, he saved the tail end of the evacuation, but only after taking heavy casualties to his own men, just as Errith had feared. Errith, was furious, but Broche was now a war hero and he could not kick the cobra out of the military. Instead, he punished him by demoting him to Captain, and forcing him to Camp 44, a remote outpost in the snowy mountain forests near the edge of the sealed gate leading back to Earth.

There he lives, now older and wiser, leading a rag tag band of other semi-undesireable troops who were too good to kick out, but for some reason or another got on the bad side of someone.
