This is one of about 100+ individual parts from the project I have mentioned in my journal that I was asked to engrave on 2 custom Indian motorcycles. I took a 1 week engraving corse in 1984 but only did some very minor straight line border work once in a while for the next 18 years.
The engraver we contracted to do the work retired 2/3s through the first bike, so thanks to my boss having seen my art and the fact that I had made a comment when we had received the first that I thought the engraving looked like crap and I could do much better. 2 months later, my boss informed me that the engraver was out of business and dumped the project on me, advanced $2000 to get my engraving equipment, and turned me loose on the bikes.
Talk about pressure, I hadn't touched an engraving tool in 10 years and the owner of the bikes is one of the top 500 richest guys in the world and a former Head of State.

I told my boss that if he wants me to do another one, I would like to do cats.
:)He wants the next bike will be covered with lions! :)
