Experimental badge. 6 1/2" x 1/8 aluminum plate
My first try at this and still has a lot of detailing to do. Started this a few months ago and I have about 200 more hours experience in since.

Had a one week course in '84 and did only some minor line border work and straight line gold inlay using only hammer and gravers. no scenes, scrolls or anything fancy. Hadn't touched my tools in ten years. A bit of an explanation of what happened is in the description with the other engraved things in my gallery. I kind of wished I hadn't taken the project, several hundred hours of drawing time shot. Would have been OK if I were younger.
I am going to do a LOT more detail work on the badge now that I have gotten more comfortable with the tools and have had much more experience.
Still have at least 3 months left on the project.
I'd rather be DRAWING!

(Gah, I need to visit FA more often.)
It seems like you've had time to work on the white tigress, at least. <:) I know it's not the same, though. That's actually why I decided against trying for med school: I'd rather not have my life taken up by work; I love my hobbies too much! Since then I've heard that some types of doctors hold relatively normal hours, but the point is that free time is precious. :/
