I cried when telling this story again. It's been about three years since we parted, but I will never stop loving my dear friends. Thank you for the happiness...

my gosh... this brought tears to my eyes.
I love rats, personally. contarary to popular belief, they are actually very, very intellegent creatures, as you clearly know and respect.
they are also compassionate and kind-natured ^-^ I hope someday I can the opportunity to have a pet rat.
Luck... what a beautiful and perfect name... why on earth would someone leave their pet rat behind on a bus....?
that alone I find to be very upsetting ;-;
seriously... I HATE the idea of abandoning ANY animal.... that's just.... thank goodness you were there to find her. *hugs*
I would have done the same exact thing.
I had a very very close bond with my first dog... her name was Raven.
she was like a sister to me... and by far my best friend... for some time in my younger life she was my only friend...
we had a very special connection. literally... we could speak to each other...
I did everything with Raven, long story short.
at the age of 5 she... developed a terminal cancer...
It's very hard for me to talk about... just beginning to think about it makes me cry... cry a lot..
she wasn't a dog to me... she was so much more. I feel like you and I share something here too... having special connections with our animals ;-;
maybe it's an aspie thing... I've been told that before.
but yeah... Raven died in my arms that morning in the hospital... it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do...
and I know deep inside it's something I will never "get over"...
you just dont "get over" the death of a loved one...
though the good memories definately outnumber the bad and thinking of her always put a big smile on my face :')

It probably is an autistic trait to care so much for pets, but as you said, it doesn't even matter. They were true friends, and nothing will ever change that.
We both shed new tears for our friends, and we celebrate them even when they're no longer with us. We don't get over losing friends, but that is good, too. The pain of loss and the joy of the time we had together are some of the most wonderful seasonings of life.
I do feel like we've just shared another real and meaningful thing, and I'm glad for it. Thank you, my sister.
