“Sasha,” cried Meagan. “What are you doing?”

“I’m hanging my sock by the fire,” she replied. “I thought everybody did that at Christmas time.”

“You’re supposed to hang up Christmas Stockings! They’re decorative things made just for the occasion!”

Sasha bit her lip and scratched behind her ear.
“Well, you see, my family was really poor, so when I was a little girl, we hung our actual socks for Santa to fill. I guess it’s just a part of my families traditions left over from the old country.”

“Sasha, look at this place! This is Thornhurst Manor! You’re not poor any more!”

“I know… I guess it’s just something I do to remember who I am; where I came from…”

“So you’re just going to leave a plain white sock up on the mantle?”

“I guess it does look kind of silly all by itself…”

“Here,” Meagan smiled, “it won’t look so weird if we both do it!”
