Grew up watching the movie on HBO, only in the last 5 years did i read the book. I was stunned at all the good parts they left out.
Still a special thing in my heart, and i can see some of the old animation style in this.
Love it.

And he wrote a sequel story too! I just bought it.

I found a graphic novel of The Last Unicorn at Barns & Nobel this summer and absolutely love it!! not to mention i grew up with the movie like alot of people here

Tom is an old friend. We use to play D&D together. He has turned into one hell of a song writer.

I met him an ConFusion a couple of years ago. A sweet man indeed. (ConFusion is a SF convention)

There is a limited edition DVD of the movie. They had to get the German version of the film as it was more colorful.

Oh? Why is that?

My guess is it was a licensing issue, as ITG films no longer exists. At any rate, the US edition DVD (available for many years) was evidently based on a poor VHS master tape. I bought the remaster based on the German DVD, and seeing it cleaned up and in widescreen was nice, but sadly it is not quite the same film. Swear words were taken out (oddly except for the love-sick tree scene) and the PAL master was sped up to fit the NTSC spec so the songs end up in a higher key.

I'd have liked to meet the guy. But I'm in a tough spot when it comes to attending conventions.
