If you mean because it's illegitimate, I got mine traded from someone who CLAIMED it was a legit one, but... Well, the OT's name is indeed in Japanese, but the name of the pokemon itself is not, so I guess I can't say for sure.
If you mean because legendaries are banned... Erm, I fail to see why they'd ban Shaymin from tourneys and such. It's hardly on the same level as ones like Dialga or Mewtwo...

So basically what you're saying is that the event for getting Shaymin hasn't even occured in Japan yet? Oh, dear... Well, I doubt anyone's going to penalize me for having gotten an illegitimate Shaymin, of all pokemon...
That said, I highly doubt a standard tournament is going to deny use of Shaymin. The way I'm using it is quite literally the only POSSIBLE way to use it, because the only non-grass attack it can learn is Psychic, it can't learn Baton Pass, nor any stat-beefing moves like Calm Mind. I love the thing, but I can't deny that Substitute + Leech Seed annoying and Aromatherapy-ing is all it can really do. The only real thing that makes it a legendary is that there's only one and that it's event-only.
I also question why they'd ban Celebi when it has an astounding 7 (IIRC) potential weaknesses to exploit, but that's something else.

They didn't "give" me the pokemon, it cost me as much as any legendary would... i.e. one of my Diamond legendaries. >.>
And just because a pokemon is difficult to obtain doesn't mean that it's hard to overcome. Looking at my team and its movesets now, I wouldn't have too big a problem taking down Celebi. Heck, my Arcanine alone would make mincemeat out of one.

I don't mind giving up legendaries I don't really like and will never use in favor of one I actually like and would indeed use.
And I still don't quite see how its unfair... While indeed not everyone can get one, they're not good enough to pretty much mandate use of it if someone is lucky enough to get their hands on one, and once again it's not a difficult pokemon to take down, which is significant since that's generally what makes the stronger legendaries banned.
