Gary, Indiana's old Union Station sits abandoned, empty and in total disarray, as it has since the 1950s when it was shuttered. By now, it's been out of service longer than it was ever in use for, having been built in 1910. It served what was a bustling steel-milling city outside Chicago. By now, freeways and the South Shore Line railroad serve what few passengers now need to travel to Gary. One major steel mill is left in the city, and much of the rest of town is in a similar state as this station. Though the exterior is in fairly good shape, the inside is totally gutted and falling apart.
