My first Christmas Themed work, this is my tale of a young reindeer with high hopes and dreams, of course with a twist of my own. ^-^ enjoy, sincerely Mist.
The unsung reindeer
By Mist Shadowvale
I am the unsung reindeer
here, not to spread some cheer,
but to tell of the tale of my life.
It is not full of joy and holly, but in its place is strife.
I am Mist the reindeer. Not here to spread the message of the holiday.
For once in the twilight forest where i was accustomed to prance and play.
It was here that the darkness and shadows came upon me once i had enter the forest’s
Depths, i was never used to this sight, or in spite of all the warnings, i fled the the best
My little limbs could carry me, but sadly, the beast within that night filled hell, sought
After me with a greater speed, which i could not outmatch. It pounced and fought
My life flashing before my young eyes as its fangs clenched and tore into my limbs
A shout, a holler, i screamed for my life, with the pain flooding my body against my whims.
It scratched, tore, and shredded. My agony only ending with the rising of the sun, the bane
Of the cold darkness itself. With the rising of the morning, the beast left. My body riddled with pain
And my mind drenched with the insanity that was to come. Crawling with what was left of my force
I came upon a trench, it was there i waited and prayed for a savior. I found and returned, remorse
Mixed with joy was felt when i parents came upon me. Trying to assure my i would be the same
When i healed. Trying as they might, i knew within, i would never play, dance or rejoice. Fevers came,
Sought after me as my body tried to fix the mangled limbs and torn fur upon me. When the time
Did come and i was healed, i could not look upon my shredded body and feel the same once the chime
Came with the cheer and holiday celebrations, i could only flee to my room, the once cheery songs
Only brought me pain, and a personal new hell. I knew to think of fame and glory would be wrong,
For who would wish to see Santa Clause counted among a maimed and torn reindeer like myself?
This is the tragic little tale of the unsung reindeer. Thank you for listening in of the unsung reindeer’s self.
