Variations for String Orchestra on an old Welsh hymn tune (known to most Christians as "Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah".
This piece was written in loving memory of my Auntie Nancy, a Welshwoman, who died in early October of 2004. She will be sadly missed. She came to this country after WW2 to marry my Uncle Art. They lived together in Ottawa for many years before she died.
Guide me, O thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim though this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty;
Hold me with thy powerful hand;
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.

There was a version of this tune in "One Foot In The Grave," after Mr. Meldrew took his Honda in for repairs and the mechanics got tired of it. They recorded over a jazz tape of them singing.
I can find the lyrics to that version if you like.
Aaaaand I'm officially marked as a diehard BritCom fan. XD
