Chapter 5 "Rookie" New York City, 21:52
There are over 40,000 police officers in New York City and over 9,000 police vehicles. Before becoming a full fledge police officer, you must under go intense training, both on the job and off. Part of the "on the job" training is doing ride alongs.
The most common police crusier in NYC is the Crown Victoria. One such Crown Vic was patroling along West 73rd Street at 21:52. In the cab were two very experienced officers. Driving was an officer named Gamble. He was a male, 35 year old, wolf-huskey hybrid, and one hell of a hardass. Next to him sat his partner, Officer Garçia, a female, 32 year old blue jay. In the back was their rookie. He was only a 25, male tabby mix, no one could really tell what the mix was though.
Now, the night was going well, only a few traffic stops. The rookie was always nervous at night, both of his training officers knew this, and fead on it. "Hey rook," Gamble yelled into the back, "I heard a few gang bangers got wasted up on this corner, why don't you go and check if theres any trouble." The rookie stutered and Garçia lashed back at Gamble.
"Hey Gamble, don't be an asshole, leave the rookie alone." Before Gamble could respond, a black BMW M3 spead past.
"Holy! We got a speeder!" Gamble fliped on his lights and picked up the radio. "Dispatch, we got a Black BMW M3 heading west on 73rd street, license plate, 2N77AB, 10-27."
The BMW pulled to the right and parked in an empty lot. Gamble followed.
The Beimer's windows were completly tinted, which was a violation. Gamble tapped his flash light on the window and said, "Sir, please roll down the window." The window rolled down to reveal the car occupant. He was a husky, most likely 47 years old and wore an incredibly expensive suit. Gamble ran him through the motions.
"License and Registration please." the husky reached down into the glove box and pulled out a few pieces paper.
"Is there a problem officer?" the husky asked.
Gamble leaned up and over the top of the car and wispered to Gaiçia, "You smell that?" Garçia replied "Yeah, gun powder." Gamble stepped back from the door and ordered the husky to leave the vehicle. "Sir, exit the vehicle and place you hands on the roof." The husky opened up the door and stepped out, but didn't turn around. Instead he turned and faced Gamble.
"Officer, I assure you this is is a matter that you do not want to meadel in. If you return to your vehicle and drive away right now, no harm will come to you or your partner."
Gamble let out a loud chuckle, "Yeah right, turn the fuck around and and put your hands on the roof of your car!"
The husky dropped his head and sighed, " When will you learn." In a lightning fast draw, the husky pulled a .44 magnum revolver from its holster in his coat. Gamble had no time to react before flames shot out of the barrel. The round entered Gamble's chest and chewed his lungs and heart to pieces. It exited his back in a bright ploom of red. Before Gamble even jerked backward, the husky bent his arm across his chest and fired another two rounds at Garçia. The first tore through her arm almost ripping it off. The second hit and shattered her sternum. Both died before they hit the ground.
The rookie wached in horror as the whole episode unravel. He reached out the window and pulled the door handle. He tumble out of the back seat and sprinted from the scene, not lookiing back.
. . .
The scene was red and gruesome. Red stood next to Jake, both of them still fully decked out in Riot gear, with the added black coat. His equipment hung at his side. Red yawned, "We've been here for two hours now and still no cofee."
Jake replied, "There isn't a starbucks open at one in the morning."
The picture that lay before them was truly sickening. They arived right before the NYCPD showed. They used fake FBI badges to wave of the police investagators. Once they had gathered the information they needed, they then opened it up to the local cops. The two bodies were identified as Officer Raymond Gamble and Officer Mary Garçia, both were carted off to the mourge.
Though both of the officers had gone, the blood splatters still remained. Bits of Gamble's. rib cage still littered the parking lot. Some of Garçia's feathers that hung on the fence dripped crimson.
Both bodies were found about a car width apart, also made aparent by the tire streaks between them. Simon had SAM, Situational Awareness Module, check the skidmarks. The car was registered to Mr. Lantho Therus, one of the Wolf's many ailiases. This was his work. The special thing about the attack was the witness.
The trainee's name was John Tammer, or Jonnie as his friends in the acadmy called him. He was 22 years old and stood at about 5'6". He was a feline, tabby to be exact, which explained why his tail was fluffed. Emily approached him with Jake and Red in tow.
"John Tammer?" He looked up. "This is Agent Dublin and this is Agent York. They're going to ask you a few questions about the attack, alright?" He nodded.
Jake knelt next to the officer, "Ok, just start from the begining."
John just tucked his head into his arms. Red sat down and put his arm around John's shoulder. Red looked at John's and saw the tears streaming down his face, He looked up at Red and with a powerful throat clear he spoke. He told them the bloody details of the story. He described the BMW and the husky that came with it, He stood at about 6'3" and matched Wolf's description. Jake finished taking Johns's statement, then he and Red left to join up with the rest of the group.
The two walked in to the circle while the Captain was giving Simon orders to send up a drone to look over the surrounding area. He then turned towards Red and Jake. "Did you get the cops story?" He asked Jake.
"Yeah, he seems pretty shaken up about it, took him a bit to get going." he answered.
"Good. Alright, York, you stay here with Chicago and keep watch over the Investagators. Dublin, you're comming with us." The captain turned and walked towards the cursiers, and Red followed, leaving Jake behind them.
