and body which is loosely hand sewn and waiting to be machine sewn (and hand paws for a blue leopard commission)
not shown is the legs which are sewn and have stirrups on the bottom to hold them down, but no waist elastic yet as I still am figuring out if I am gonna attach to the body or not or id the crotch of the body is enough to keep them from sagging and thus the waist can be left as-is...
I also wish I did the seam down the back not the inside of the legs because the seam makes a stark yellow line, this fabric is so thin my skin color affects the shade (which is okay as I needed it more yellow-tan) but oh well, at least the seam is not down the outside of the legs!
Speaking of the leg fabric, I am so NOT USED to using non fur material X_X fleece acts a lot like fur, this thin stretchy stuff does not act like fleece or fur pffffffft
What you do not see here is the duct tape dummy of my feet (plastic bag + tape + stuffing) with foam glued to it for the toes with batting over the foam to make it smooth, with the foam friggen AIRBRUSHED skin tone because this material is so thin that my skin tone affects the color and ffff
I still need to cut a puzzle mat to fit (sending my sister out for colored today so I can use yellow vs the shit-ton of gray I have) and glue it to the bottom to make the sole (I did this for BC and Ryo-oki, neither have shoes in them) after that the duct tape dummy part gets pried loose, the glue gets picked off the foam, and my foot slides in. Oh and the feet need claws, I am sooooo hoping the claws will de-derpify these feet (which atm look derpy) they will be fleece.
I went with this thin fabric stuff vs fleece because one night when cold I put a fleece blanket over me and went "oh wow if I use fleece for the bird legs I am gonna die of heat stroke at Fanime" (which is the end of May when the weather heads into the 90s here in Cali) I am hoping this thin stuff will let at least my legs air out and keep me from overheating (gonna freeze at the winter Sac-anime and FC though, lol)
ALSO I am NOT following the ref on the feet and legs mmmmkay? Loftwings have long ass skinny legs and long skinny toes, I am using my real legs (the walking with dinos costume leg style failed, I tried it) which are of course not thin enough (you have to be starving to have legs thin enough) or long enough (stilts are a hell no) so I am doing shorter fatter toes to compensate for shorter fatter legs. ALSO the back toes are as long as the other toes int he ref but I made them short because any longer than that will hinder walking...even as-is walking in these feet is gonna mean a very ungraceful looking bird XD
My only concerns on this suit, as in the thing that will keep it from being 100% epic is the damn legs and feet :/ why couldn't Link have a hawk or something that have fat feathered legs. I hope the epicness of the head and wings will keep people from going "the legs ruin it"
also the TAIL
I HATE YOU SO MUCH YOU LOPSIDED BITCHFACE
...it won't sit straight <_<; I can get curved wolf and cat tails to sit right but this is like between the the 2 (long skinny wolf tail) and it is not cooperating >_O methinks it will have to be attached to the body which is not what I wanted to do D:
PS I love my sewing machine, it eats through shit like crazy, like on the wings, I used white glue to place the colored tips and it ate though 6 layers of fleece along with 2 layers of dried glue with minimal protest.

Such legs must be a pain to get looking right, simply because human legs just do not work that way.
A viable solution that some people do is actually construct the legs how they're supposed to look on the bird/creature, and then have them attached to your own legs which are semi-hidden in black fabric. At least enough to show people that "these aren't the legs you look at, these ones are" and works really well if you're in a dark environment.
