Iron Artist Commission from

This one's a bit more personal than most of the stuff I commission, and maybe a bit more awkward, too.
The child in Megan's arms is her daughter, Deborah.
I do not have any children and I very much doubt that I ever shall. To be honest it's not really that big a deal to me. Except, sometimes, I wonder what might life might have been if things had gone just a slightly different way. There was a time, nearly half my life ago, when having children wasn't entirely out of the question and every once in a while I wonder who they might have been.
I hadn't planned to give the child a name since she started out as just an idle thought. But that didn't seem right somehow, so I named her after my favorite cousin. To be clear, Deborah is Megan's alone, which is why her colors are so heavily based on her mother's. Call it cloning if you like, or maybe immaculate conception.I haven't decided whether I'll keep her as a permanent character yet. I thought I'd wait and see what people thought of this picture, first. But I do have at least one more idea for Deborah that I'd like to get done.
I've decided, Deborah is staying for good. She's just too cute for me not to want to keep her.

She always does such a fantastic job with everything I ask her to draw. I really love the emotional strength of this piece, and that she really showed the sort of mood I wanted so perfectly. I've always thought that if I did have a child I would do my very best to look after them and love them the way a parent should, and I wanted that to show through.
I do seem to remember your saying something along these lines in regards to Keryan. I've always known that she was quite special to you, at any rate. I'm really glad you like this picture so much, too. I admit I was a little bit nervous of what you might think of it, silly as I know that sounds. I didn't want you to think that my introduction of Deborah was a sign of my expecting something from you. That's part of why I based her design so much on Megan, and kind of scaled back the amount of white in her design, too. But at the same time I didn't want you to think I was shutting you out, either. Silly, I know, but there you have it.
Still, I am quite fond of Deborah and I'm leaning very much toward keeping her around. I've never been able to resist giving my characters someone to interact with, and she gives Megan more of a sense of family and belonging to my little group of characters, I think. That, and I do like the idea of having a daughter, even if just a fictional one.

Hmmm...very interesting. I know what you're talking about, wondering what it might have been like to have had kids. Having children now would be pretty unlikely for me also for several reasons. I never had any and though I am not displeased with that, I see the happiness that it can bring and realize that here is something I'll never share in or even understand really. The feeling of being a parent. I think this picture is very cool. Rather personal and somewhat revealing...but as always, whenever you reveal more of yourself, I find myself liking you more for it. You express a lot of things that I've vaguely felt and never really thought too much about. Thanks for sharing. Things like this always make me feel better somehow.
I think you ought to keep her. The idea is an excellent one in my opinion.

Aw, well thank you. I'm glad you like it, and I'm glad it helps you feel a little bit better, too. It is a pretty personal picture, probably one of the most intimate ones I've ever posted, so naturally I was a bit nervous sharing it. So it's nice that it has been so well received. I mostly meant it as a bit of fantasy, just musing on what Megan's daughter might look like. But while the fact that I'm not going to have children isn't a major deal, it is something that I think about sometimes. How would it be to have someone I could teach all I know? Who I could watch go out into the world and forge her own path? Would I even do a good job raising her?
No point in getting maudlin about it, though, I suppose. On the bright side, there's no danger of my turning out to be a lousy parent with Deborah, or seeing her hurt by cruelty and ignorance.
I think I will keep her. A daughter is kind of a fun idea to play with, and besides I can't let you have all the fun of raising the next generation of trouble making rabbits! Deborah might look shy, but she takes after mama.

It IS fun having kids to play around with here. And funny how timing works. I just posted the request that
ameline did for me last night too! Maybe Deborah and my two hellions could get together sometime? She might be able to show them what a well mannered rabbit is supposed to act like! ..........................or not... =p

Oh yes. I know you've come up with some really fun ideas for Liane's kids, and I've had fun showing little glimpses of Ciara's childhood. So I think Deborah will be a great little addition to my stable of characters. I like the idea of giving Megan a family of her own, too. Well, she's got her cousins, but I don't suppose she can hang out with Niamh all the time.
I like the idea of letting her play with your kids, too. She's about 13 so she's just the right age to get along with at least one of them. Though as to your last comment, I suppose that depends on your perception of what a well-mannered rabbit is like! Deborah might not have any magic powers, but she's got plenty of tricks up her sleeve, I'm sure.

Well Heather is kinda flexible age wise. I started her out as being 5ish but she seems to have gotten more like 9 to 11 looking now. And though Molly looks 18 and IS, body wise, she is really only less than 2 in real time. (keeping in canon, which is what Dani likes to do. And Molly being her child also, I go along with that) So possibly that explains why Molly is a little strange about some things. She is still really inexperienced. Just learning how she should behave. All this to say I think Deborah is the right age to get along with BOTH of them. (I'm a bit long winded sometimes. ;3)
Oh, she wouldn't be a rabbit if she wasn't tricksy. All rabbits have their own special kind of magic, if you know what I mean. I was kind of thinking that maybe with someone who wasn't related to them to play with, the girls would act nicer.

Yeah, I did remember that Molly is still really just a baby for all that she's got an adult body. She was the one I wasn't sure of, since she is so young and I didn't know if she'd be interested in playing with an older kid who wasn't her sis. Though I'd be only too glad to let Deborah play with either of your girls, or both of them. I haven't really worked out more than just a few basic ideas about what she's like as a person. I don't want her to be so similar to Megan that they can't be told apart, after all. But I think she's likely to be a sweet girl and more inclined to play nice (and fairly) than not.
*Grins* Don't worry about being long-winded. I'll talk your ear off given the chance! Besides, I like hearing from you. Your comments are always so interesting!

Molly is a strange case. she hasn't much experience, yet she has been aware of her surroundings and what is going on in them since she was in Liane's womb. She and her siblings are responsible for Liane being a herm after all. They demonstrated that they not only were aware of the situation, but capable of understanding it and willing to change it to their own whims. So that, coupled with her wish to grow herself up makes her willing to spend time with pretty much anyone. She learns from everyone.
Deborah's personality will be interesting to see. I don't see how she could NOT be a sweet girl with Megan for a mother. (and you in control of Megan... ;3)
I think a picture of the 3 of our daughters together doing something is definitely in order. Have to think about what kind of mischief they could be getting into. Being rabbits, well in Molly's and Heather's cases 1/2 rabbit, I'm sure that they all would be up to something fun.

Ooh, now I don't think I knew that. I remember you said that Liane got transformed into a herm, but I just kind of assumed it was because of an accident or a misapplied spell or something. But I like Molly better and better the more I learn about her. Mischievous as she might be, you've got to admire someone who wants to learn everything she can and who is so determined to find things out. I've seen enough of her to think that she's a really sweet kid under it all, too. The picture of her play wrestling with her sister is still one of my favorites in your gallery.
Aw, and thanks! That's really kind of you to say. I know I'm going to have fun developing her, and I've had a few ideas of what to do with her already. I'm certainly going to hang on to the idea that Megan really is her only parent, impossible as that should be for an ordinary rabbit doe. (Though, who knows? Megan does live in the same world as Ciara and Niamh, and it's a place full of mysteries even I haven't fully explored yet.) So Deborah is going to take after her mother quite a bit. Though, as I said, I do want her to be her own person as well and to make her more interesting than just Megan's clone. I'm looking forward to it.
I agree. I'd love to see the three of them doing something together sometime. Three rabbit kits together could do just about anything they set their minds to, I suspect!

Yes, as their idea of a joke (apparently anyway.....who can say for sure?) she and her litter-mates gave Liane Dani's 'bunnyhood' while the two adults cuddled in bed, and left Dani as a pure female. This while yet unborn! Possibly this experience of adult things while so young is what set her on a course of finding out more about life as quickly as possible while leaving her uninterested in pursuing those purely adult ventures since she already has participated in them in a fashion none of us could really understand. Anyway, that's how I interpret her disinterest in things sexual. That and the fact that she has so much else to learn, she can afford to wait as long as she chooses. She IS a really sweet kid, and I think we can all be glad for that!
It is really a fun thing to have a child like Deborah for you to develop and mold into the daughter you wish to have. And having Megan as the only mother is an interesting concept which you can explore in so many different ways!
I'm pondering just what the three of them should be doing. I'm definitely putting this on my list of pictures I want to have done. But let me also say that if anytime you should have a whim to use my girls in a picture, or Liane.... well any of my characters....I would be pleased and flattered. You wouldn't even need to ask. I know you would treat them all the same as I, and that's all I'd ask.

Goodness! All that while still in the womb. It certainly is a good thing that she's a sweet girl, and that she's got a wonderful mother like Liane to raise her the right way. But if this what she's done now, she'll be a wonder once she's grown!
Aw, and thank you so much. I'm really honored that you're willing to trust me with your characters like that and I just might take you up on it sometime. Though naturally I'd do my best to treat them right if I did. They're all so wonderful I wouldn't dream of abusing them! Likewise, you'd be more than welcome to use any of my characters in commissions if you wanted to. You wouldn't have to ask, either, though don't hesitate to note me or something if you do have questions.
