This *I hope won't be removed* is a little art that kinda skirts the fine line limit of what FurAffin might tolerate as far as an art submission goes, however if it's removed no biggie I understand, however for whatever time it does remain up in my gallery, I'd like to say this is a Christmas gift for
chucky the aviation loving skunk fella. =D
Now I'm not worried much if this is taken down because later after posting this in shooting Chuckster a note informing him that I have this version and a more highly detailed model of the NewTek75 trainer in the works for him, and both models can be sent to him directly by email if he so chooses. I rather not use google's 3Dwarehouse to share this model with Chuck, because for one this is a private xmas prezzie for him only, and since Chuck is the designer of this cute little plane, I do NOT have the right to post this in the warehouse... only Chucky has the right to.. and I won't post it on google unless otherwise given permission to.. and in either case even if I'm hosting the model on my profile, the real credit for creating the NewTek75 goes to Chuckster, not me. XD
Ok with all of that formality out of the way, here's the deal. =D I've been wanting to make a cute 3D art for Chucky for some time now, and having a chance to sneak away into my chick cave for a spell, I took the opportunity to whip up this neat little moderately low polygon count model for Chucks of his trainer aircraft in which his persona, Chucky learns general aviation with. I've always thought Chucky's comic dealing with his love of flight to be quite cute, and this aircraft in particular caught my eye. Chucky the artist calls this the NewTek75, and I can only assume by design, that it is a very forgiving, easy to learn, and fly, trainer that by appearance is powered by a turbo-prop ducted fan, and since I'm influenced at home by a "Wing-Nut" of sorts, I have something of an appreciation of aircraft as well. XD Hence I find Chucky's NT75 to be a cute little thing, and I just had to crank out a 3D model of it for Chuckster! =D
This model took me about three hours to build, of which the first half hour to whole hour was spent staring at the reference comic panel to learn the design of Chucky's trainer, and I hope I've gotten the appearance correct? *giggle* The major parts are all here, and some of the minor details are included as well, such as the pitot tubes for the ?Altimeter? as well as the air-speed indicator.. Well bluntly put I'm no pilot, so I hope I have my facts correct and my terminology correct? XD Anyhow, there are some minor differences between Chucky's wonderful comic and my half-assed attempts to turn it into 3D.. such as height above tarmac~the length of the landing gear sturts.. that couldn't be helped.. it's one thing to draw something artistically and have it look plausible, it's another thing entirely to make it measurement correct and conform to the physical world~ xP... anyhow so the wheels are a little longer, and there's no paint scheme on the NewTek either... that I leave up to Chucky. Later when I note him, I'll ask for a sample of what he considers the canon colors scheme, and if he could provide me a sample so that I could vector it, clean it up, scale it... blah blah, and paint the sides of this cute plane and finish it properly for him. =D
I've also tried to keep this model as simple as possible, in the even that Chucky is a user of SecondLife by Linden Labs, there's a possibility that he could export this sketchup model and import it in~sim, and with the proper data scripts, make this NewTek really fly, hence I will make a separate more complicated model for Chucky once the hectic holiday season is over as proper eye candy for him. XD
As the designer* of the NewTek, I must of course ask Chucky if I have the scaling as close to canon as possible? If not I'll go back and re-scale things around and resubmit? ^w^
Long ramble SHORT, this is a little something for Chucky as an xmas gift that I've been meaning to make for him, and hope he likes it? =D
Have a Merry one Chucky, and keep up the cute comic of yours! =D

Dude this is freakin' awesome!! Of course I already responded to the PM, so I'll keep my comment short and sweet. But this model is nearly spot-on. It's interesting what you say about the difficulty of 3-D modeling and making it work. There are various things I realized about is as the comic progressed. The airplane will be coming back to the comic shortly. And I realized that that big propeller housing has to be angled slightly upward and the landing gear moved back farther. That way during rotation, that housing doesn't scrape the ground. Even then, it should have some sort of skid plate on it.
Again, thank you so much. I can't imagine this getting removed.

You're very welcome Chucky, I'm glad you like my attempts at a little 3D fan gift art! It's such a cute little plane I HAD TO make a model of it.
Ahem ok pardon now.. geeky girl Wing-Nut mode activated~
Oh really? *slightly confused* about how much do you think I should incline the prop-fan and duct off centerline? I assumed perhaps the fan was a simple set-up along the long axis of the body and never considered the attack angle of the fuselage and wings would be different than the thrust line of this cute machine. XD Oh yes and pardon for making the landing gear so long *giggles* it was the only way I could think to provide enough aft clearance for a good rotation and not have a duct strike. Your idea of adding a bit of skid guard along the ventral portion of the duct does sound good though! I wouldn't want any of that expensive carbon composite to rub away like a cheap eraser on the runway if I owned a NewTek.
Looking forward to seeing more flying and more antics in your comic, Chucky.
Take care and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to 'ya! *hugs*

Oh no, don't change the housing angle at all. I think it looks good how it is for now. All that tweaking can be done later. I was thinking at some point I should do a technical drawing of the plane with dimensions and everything. Believe it or not, a lot of planes have odd little things that aren't set along axis like you'd think. Often to compensate for torque and gyroscopic effects.
You said 'geeky girl Wing-Nut', are you female? I always assume everyone is a guy.
Merry Christmas to you too!

Ahahahahahahah! This is my own fault... I have no one to blame but myself for this mental image~
Yes my dear fellow I am, zee femme.
I think the perception that I'm a guy might stem from the fact that I tend to do technical gizmology so well, and that oddly I have a fandom for Uchuu Senkan Yamato~ something I blame on my brothers while growing up, and having to sit thur their space-opera cartoon (Star Blazers) while waiting for MyLittlePony and CareBears, and PoundPuppies and stuff. XDDD
And Happy Holidays too, Chucky!

Oh noes! XD RoboTech!
Ah me gadz... Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, Lin Minmay, Roy Folker... that's another oldie I had to put up with, with those lunk head brothers hogging the TV. XDDDDDDDD
Don't think I've heard of Tranzor-Z though? What is it? Some kind of transformers? Oh geez MegaTron.. Optimus.. yet more testosterone oozing toons from back when which I had to sit thru until my shows came on, then the brothers got the royal boot out of the living room! XDDDDDD

Pffff why settle for a car, or boat, when you could have Nate in 3D?
Anyhow fella, all of this random silly is for a good purpose after all. This practice making complex shapes will make it much easier for me to sculpt organics in sketchup, something the poor program was never designed to do, but can, given the right user inputs~
And besides, having a 3D Der Meep, or a 3D Yuki having fun with 3D Nate sounds like more enjoyment than making a car or boat for ya? Hmm?
And on that note, when I do have the time to make arts of any sort, I'll see about making this 3D furries jazz soon enough, so hopefully you can expect to see a little 3D silly *late gift* of some kind in the near future for ya.
Happy Holidays y'all!
