I have to say i really like that art style, reminds me of something from dark horse comics, keep up the great work dude!

The Dark Horse HQ is actually in my hometown and I get a lot of old women telling me to look into working there when I mention I'm a cartoonist, lol.

Nah, I'm just barely 18, haven't been drawing too long, it's pretty amateur, lol. But yeah! Sky is the limit and all that! I would love to do art for a living, but it's just so darn unpredictable in this market. Ah well.

well you obviously can achieve alot more than i can in that short time, since I have been drawing for a long time and was hoping on making it a career someday, just when i get better haha, but I know the markets all pish posh and what not, but i want to follow my dream

Really, there's a time and place in the art market for every single stage and form of art, so I don't doubt that both of us could get successful careers in it if we were driven enough. Kudos!

I have to recommend not coloring hair like that unless you're working without lines. From personal experience, I can tell you that it is QUITE a chore getting it to work well. More often than not, it just ends up looking kind of cheesy. Also, I'd suggest using a wider range of colors on the skin. If you were to slip some subtle hints of purple in there, it would add a LOT to it.

Haha, oh my god, it's really funny that you'd say that, because in the description on a separate site, I put more effort into explaining that I had NO idea what I was doing with the hair AT ALL, and that I toned down the purple/dark tones in the skin because it looked wrong to me.

I'm really really new to "proper" digital coloring for the most part, and I really appreciate the feedback here. I'm not quite sure where to take it, though. How would you suggest I do hair differently?

I'd say play around with something similar to how you color other things, honestly! There's a lot to be said for simpler coloring styles. Your lineart looks really nice, but having so much going on in the hair detracts from it quite a bit.

Of course I'd also say play around with as many different things as you can, because A) it's really really fun and B) it's how you develop things you like!
