it's always good advice for when you get impatient with a piece like this to come back to it later.. it's still nice but i feel like if you waited another day or until you had more of a muse it wouldn't look so messy P:

See, that's the thing--I did it in several sittings. I just was so tired of working on the picture, in general. Like, from the beginning I had no drive to do it. ; u; That's why it took me so long to even get it started. So I really just needed to get it out and done, no matter how impatient I was. Baaaadddd timing for my art drive to die.

well hopefully you've learned to not really go overboard with it (unless you know you're in an artsy mood or you like the image etc); although money is fun, the many characters and having so much to do might've thrown you off and kept you from being interested (and you were also in an artblock for a short while if i remember?), and while it is still nice, from what was spent it's.. i don't want to say not fair? but it could've come out better for the huge price you got from the piece overall compared to the other piece, although i can understand you might've not wanted to make anyone wait longer than they already were because that's not fun making people wait 8(

like that's what happened to me with my auction thing lol orz;;; i even did more of what was paid for just because i wanted to make it look nice n stuff, but it still took forever and i had to do it in bits n pieces because i didn't wanna work on it when i didn't really feel like it, at the same time wanting to get it done because i didn't like stalling it. sometimes you just need to let that muse come naturally, i've learned from forcing it, the result isn't as good as it could've been and that goes for like, anything..

You know, you make a valid point against me, and if people decide not to bid on my auctions again 'cause one came out a bit messy, well then that's my bad. But, as it is, I'm not sorry with how the picture turned out. I really like it despite that. I like how I've expanded with color use, and making all the characters fit together despite being so different pallet-wise. Had everything gone perfectly, I wouldn't have gotten an art block right after the auction ended and, not only would it have been done sooner, but it probably would have been cleaner. But it didn't. -shrugs-
I can only hope the next time I do an auction that it won't happen that way. Like I said, though, I am still pretty pleased with the turnout. So I don't feel like I bombed something horribly or anything. xD; I just feel it's slightly messy. And that it's not a big deal.

I hope this doesn't come off as totally asshole-y, but it's really not your place to discuss price vs. worth on an artist's work. Just doing so in public comments is enough for me to sad face at you, that's something better suited to notes. But considering that you didn't pay for this at all, it's really none of your business how it turned out or how much it cost.

So, yea. It's really not cool to make comments like that.

i didn't pay for it, but it's just advice from one artist to another. from my pov, which i do have the freedom to say, especially when i wasn't even being an ass about it but moreso wanting to get her view on it as well. it's not like i'm holding her down and forcing her to change anything about it, and eventually she took my opinion into consideration anyway- i didn't think commenting on things would be so bad especially when it's an innocent bit of criticism, which she took really well instead of hiding my comment and not telling me how she felt about it.

seemed like you were being objective to me, but maybe you could have noted the artist about such things?

sometimes i feel a bit uncomfortable just noting someone because i don't want to feel like i'm attacking her in private or anything (i have gotten such responses) and i'm not really afraid to leave my statements up for debate at all, it feels more 'free' that way than total confidentiality which isn't totally necessary, i think, and since she did take my response rather well, i don't see why it would be a problem to state what i thought at all~

i mean, it's not like i was really trying to insult her, but instead try to get her views on it for if anyone felt the way i did, although now i see how i was easily singled out because i'm not one to pat someone on the head when they themselves admit they were at fault.

something you gotta realize methinks, most, if not all, people don't take criticism well at all at any given time, so there is no tried and true way of doing it.
that goes double for furries btw, any attempt to help someone improve themselves is seen as an attack on them personally

if they don't bother to stand up and say hey this isn't what i paid for, in which they sink back and just stay quiet in hope of trying to not offend, then yes, that's not being a very good commissioner.. although it seems like others are happy but i know for a fact someone was not

i guess that kind of fueled me into speaking, but i still think that this compared to the other was really unfair since it was more, then again the artist did bring that upon herself so...

I would like to make the assumption that you are one who does commissions, but because I hate being wrong I'm not going to assume that
but hypothetically speaking, if you were, maybe giving suggestions on how to be a better commissioner? I'm not good enough to be commissioned for anything yet, but I know that being an artist and being a commissioned artist are two very. different. things.

yep, i do commissions. when i do, i prefer people being honest with how they think of my outcomes, and unfortunately, sometimes people aren't. i've had cases where someone came to be like a year later and said they were unhappy with it, but i'm always willing to fix it to someones standards!

whenever you get a commission always let them know that they're free to speak their mind about the outcome, after all, they paid for it and it should be what you were offering! i really wish more people would be honest, it would help a lot..
