YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
This took about three times as long as I thought it would, but I'm finally finished with the head base!
The final eyes are installed, the jawset is glued in place, and the articulation is working. All that's left is to fur the mask, then add the nose.
Considering how long everything is taking, I'm starting to doubt that I'll have a complete suit by FC- I might only have time for a partial. I'm really liking how everything is coming out, though. ^^
ETA: I added a bit of foam to the front edge of the ear before furring. Just thought I'd mention it.

I'm not really planning on taking fursuit commissions for a while yet. Once I do though, I'm afraid $500 sounds like about what I might charge. ^^;
Keep in mind, all in all the head alone will probably take me about 2 weeks of full time work. If I sold it at $500, that wouldn't quite be minimum wage, and that's not even taking into account material costs. That's a lot to spend, I agree, but I'm afraid it would be hard to part with one for much less. If you're looking for a cheaper option, really the way to go is to try to make one yourself. There's a lot of great tutorials and advice available on the Fursuit LiveJournal. Also, you might be able to find a resin base like this one for a lot cheaper, since they can be mass produced. You'd have to put some work into it, but that's the way to get a good head without breaking the bank. =3

No, but I see the resemblance!
I got the texture by pressing tiny balls of clay onto the nose base using a metal tool. You can see the detail a bit better HERE.
