[Artist: When I was little, I actually disliked reading for quite a while. The very first book my mom introduced me to, one I actually stuck to I mean, was a book by Danielle Steel. I don't remember the name, but it started out about child abuse and it just really caught me. I liked happy things, sure, but it was interesting to read something different and so full of emotion.
I also got hooked onto V.C.Andrew books, which is one of my fav types of stories even if they end up being pretty much the same after a while. It's full of horrible things happening, but usually has a happy ending nonetheless. ]

I tended to like some pretty dark stories when I was a kid, too. Though I tended to gravitate more toward post-apocalyptic stuff like Bradbury's There Will Come Soft Rains or Wyndham's Day of the Triffids rather than more realistic pictures of suffering like child abuse. I didn't start reading stories like that until I got into graduate school and discovered authors like Flannery O'Connor.
Nop. I'm pretty limited book wise at the moment. I tend to like one athour and read all theyre books before moving on (V.C andrews kept me PRETTY busy XD). I'm waiting to finish the warriors now. Though I picked up harry potter which ill start soon, Im reading another book called Liesl and Po and have a book about unicorns.
Hmmm... When you're done with all those and want something to keep you occupied, look up "Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. The best description i can really give you is that it's similar to harry potter in the way that a lion is similar to a kitten. X3
The magic system is almost believable, and there's no "sophmore slump" between volumes. (read through almost a thousand pages in a matter of days.)
