I don't normally post my own art to this account but this one turned out pretty well so why not.
I haven't used watercolors for about 2 years now and I decided to pull them out again. This is by no means a masterpiece but I'm pretty happy with this little practice to get used to the media again. It kind of serves as a decent example of how much more Icee sucks at digital media over traditional... Hakuga told me I need to watercolor more. He was kinda blown away but I find myself amateurish at best...
My birthday and Christmas are both coming up within the week so I felt it was only suiting to do a picture of Icee opening a gift. Looks like she found a shiny new hair comb inside... You can't really see here but I added an iridescent medium to the comb so that it actually sparkles and shines in real life. Photographs/scans definitely eat watercolor.
[EDIT] : Forgot to mention that a reference was used for the pose!

Haha I think this is awful but I guess that's only because my dear friend who got me into watercolor is... well... fucking amazing... I aspire to be like her one day.
:D I don't know why... but somehow I think it looks really neat to leave the edge like that! In the past, I made a habit to leave one of the edges longer and used it as a little blotter space/color test space but I didn't do that this time. Somehow it just makes it seem more... hand done instead of just perfectly printed and I kind of like that! In fact, when I get watercolor framed, I usually float it over a mat instead of putting it under since I think the edges are more intriguing!
