My original idea for this picture was very different from what I came out with. I originally was going to have only three foxes. But then I started thinking about the numbers and how some have associations in Asia (more specifically Japan since I just finished up my first semester of Japanese). Four and Nine were the numbers that actually had any relevance, as four is a homophone for Death and nine is a homophone for suffering. So I instantly connected Karthus to four and Brand to nine. And not wanting to leave any gaps, I started figuring other champs that could fill in the gaps.

This idea of the nine tails was heavily inspired from my studies in Japanese this past semester and playing a lot of Okami recently.

1. Kennen - Thunder. He seemed liked a good pick for one. No real reason.

2. Anivia - Ice. Two tails to represent her two lives.

3. Maokai - Nature. Three tails to represent the three saplings he could carry.

4. Karthus - Death. Four tails for the pun on death.

5. Irelia - Rebirth. Five tails for all of her weapons.

6. Fizz - Water. Six tails for the six tentacles he normally has coming out of his head.

7. Malphite - Earth. Seven tails for the seven prongs coming out of his back in his normal model.

8. Leona - Sun. No real reason for being eight.

9. Brand - Fire. Nine tails for the pun on suffering.
