After attending the New Zealand FurCoNZ's fursuit general Q&A + fursuit construction I got a little inspired to have a go at making my Fursona's head.
Ive used strips cut from a foam camping bed roll and made a frame, This is my first go at anything like this and while its very strong (for foam) and light weight i have no real clue if im even heading in the right direction, im just having a play and see what happens.
I really should get some kind of commission of my fursona done on paper at some stage.. shes all in my head >.<

i wish i had some better advice for you.... What i can tell you is that closed cell foam [what camping ground-pads/bed rolls are made of] like you said is sturdy for foam...the issue is this everyone is going to tell you something different...it all depends upon what you want your end result to look like...some really well designed suits actually have taxidermy mounts for eyes teeth ext and they are VERY realistic........ It looks like a good start... best of luck
