Dover's Holiday Greetings

Happy Holidays 2011.
Well another year has passed again and as I have never really sent a holiday greeting to all so I’ll do one this year.
So at this point, since I’m going to treat you all like family this year and just spill it all, I will give you the run-down of my year 2011 good news and bad news.
Bad news first.
Divorce. Very ugly thing. Very expensive thing. And there is a child involved. This hurts the most. Basically I’m tapped out and can’t continue with a lengthy custody battle so I’ll be the one leaving. All the counselors etc, say the same cliché. “Kids are resilient.” Yeah? But I’m not and the thought of having to leave my child in the care of someone who looses complete control of their emotions daily just rips my heart apart.
Finances. Yuck! Because of the above problem and a very expensive 4yrs of medical problems in my family, I got bled dry of a 22yrs work of savings. Not going to make that up very easily.
Health wise. Bad for that family member. Very bad. Recovery is going to be very slow and sometimes I think I may be lying to myself that recovery will even happen. Plus I’m really surprised my Mom has lived thru this year. She has had more surgery this year then anyone I can ever think of.
Now the good news.
Work is good and picking up. I took this job sort of reluctantly when I moved to Chicago. It was a start up company making diamond coatings. Risky business and a lot of work but after once nearly closing we managed to get some investment. Now things are picking up where we just might make it all the way. Should this happen the risks would pay out large. Especially since I am one of only 4 people originally hired. Now we have grown to 30 people. So great green technology and creating jobs.
My daughter is healthy and doing better and better in school. Still gets really distracted but to see her ace a little math test is quite a good feeling. She still wants a puppy though. A Husky! Of all the $%@& breeds. They are a handful to keep busy and out of trouble. I really can’t agree that my child is ready for that responsibility.
The family business we started in 2010 actually is making a lot of money. The cash flow allows for a lot of extra things but the reality is that the initial investment will take years to recover from.
And finally furries. Furries are always fun and it was good to get to one con this year, MFF. Next year I’ll be there again I’m guessing. My daughter wants a husky fursuit, so I’ve got a year to build one for an eight year old that will probably grow three sizes over that amount of time.
So there ya go. I hope you had a better year than I did. Just try to always see the flowers on the path and not just the rocks. Never give up.
HAPPY HOLLIDAYS!
I wish you all the best.
Hugs,,
A.J.

*hugs* I know how the whole divorce thing is from the child's perspective... Was hardest on me instead of my brother and sister. But I am glad you are doing fine right and still pushing forward!
